The How Is Not Your Job
Jul 9, 2026
Most people are stuck in the same place, and they do not even know it.
They are stuck on the how.
How do I afford it. How do I find the time. How do I scale this when I have no proof it will work yet. How do I leave the safe thing for the unknown thing.
So they wait. They wait for the full plan. They wait for the money to show up first. They wait until the whole path is lit up before they take a single step.
And the waiting becomes the trap.
I want to challenge how you think about this, because it is the difference between the people who build something real and the people who stay stuck talking about it.
Clarity Comes First
Here is what I have learned after years of building businesses and watching other leaders build theirs.
The how is not your job in the beginning.
Your job is to get crystal clear on what you actually want. Not what is realistic. Not what you can afford right now. What you actually want.
Most people skip this part. They jump straight to the how, and the how feels so heavy that they quit before they ever decide what they are chasing. They let the size of the obstacle talk them out of the vision.
Flip it. Decide what you want first. Get specific. Then trust that the path will reveal itself once you start moving.
Clarity first. The how comes after.
Commitment Changes Everything
There is a line that separates the people who grow from the people who stay the same.
It is the line of full commitment.
When you stand at that line with one foot in and one foot out, nothing builds. No foundation. No structure. No momentum. The money stays tight. The fear stays loud. You stay busy without ever building.
The minute you commit all the way, things start to organize around you. Systems form. Discipline shows up. Doors open that you could not even see from the sidelines.
Think about the seasons in your business where you grew the most. I promise you they were not the seasons where you had everything figured out. They were the seasons where you decided, you committed, and you took the step before you felt ready.
The path showed up while you were walking it. Not before.
That is the part most people miss. They want to see the whole staircase before they take the first step. Leaders take the step and the next stair appears.
They Will Call You Crazy
When you commit to something bigger than your current comfort, get ready.
People will tell you that you are crazy. That you are taking on too much. That the timing is wrong. That the risk is too big. Some of them will love you and still tell you to play it safe.
Let that be your signal, not your stop sign.
When the people around you start telling you that you are nuts, that is usually the moment you are onto something real. Comfortable moves do not change your life. The uncomfortable ones do.
Think of your comfort zone as a circle. Everything inside it is safe and familiar. Most people spend their whole lives inside that first ring because stepping out feels uncomfortable.
But every time you take a step out, you enter a new ring. Fewer people are willing to stand there with you. The risk is bigger. And so is the growth. The further out you go, the more you build the self confidence of someone who knows they can figure anything out.
The discomfort is not a sign you are doing it wrong. It is proof you are leveling up.
Do The Thing You Cannot Stop Thinking About
There is one more truth worth sitting with.
The thing you keep coming back to, the work you would do even if no one paid you, the vision that will not leave you alone, that is not random. That is direction.
Chase the passion and build the discipline around it, and the money tends to follow. Chase the money with no purpose behind it, and you burn out before you ever build anything that lasts.
Your thoughts shape your direction. What you tell yourself every day becomes the standard you live by. Speak doubt over yourself and you will move like someone full of doubt. Speak vision and conviction over yourself and you will start to move like the leader you are becoming.
Decide who you are. Then go act like it before the evidence shows up.
Make Your Move
So stop waiting for the perfect plan. Stop trying to map out every step before you take the first one.
Get clear on what you want. Commit like there is no back door. Then move.
The how will meet you on the road.
That idea you keep putting off because you cannot see the whole path. That is the one. Move on it this week. Not someday. This week.
If you want to build with a room full of leaders who will hold you to a higher standard and push you to commit fully, that is exactly what we built Leaders Create Leaders to be. Apply, get in the room, and stop building alone.
Clarity. Commitment. Action. That is how leaders build.
Now go make your move.
