You Cannot Get There Until You Admit Where You Are
I want to give you the exercise that changes everything, and almost nobody has the stomach to do it.
Face the facts about where you actually are.
Not where you tell people you are. Not where you post like you are. Where you actually are, right now, with no emotion and no excuses.
This one practice separates the people who talk about their goals from the people who actually reach them. Let me show you why.
Your Life Runs On The Same Rule As Your GPS
Think about the GPS in your phone. Before it can take you anywhere, it has to know one thing. Where you are standing right now.
You can want to get to Los Angeles all day long. But if the map thinks you are somewhere you are not, every single direction it gives you is wrong. You will drive hard and confident in the wrong direction, and then wonder why you keep ending up in the ocean.
Most people live their entire lives exactly like that. They set big goals. They hustle. They grind. And they never get anywhere, because they never got honest about their real starting point.
You do not have a hustle problem. You have a location problem. You are working hard from a place you refuse to be honest about, and no amount of effort fixes a wrong starting point.
Face The Facts Across The Four Areas That Run Your Life
So here is the work. Get in front of the mirror and get brutally honest across the areas that actually shape your life.
Your body. What is the real truth about your health, your energy, your discipline. Not what you wish it was. Not what you looked like five years ago. What it is today.
Your purpose. Where are you actually at with your faith, your calling, and the deeper voice you keep trying to drown out with noise. Be honest about whether you are living connected to something bigger, or just staying busy.
Your relationships. Your marriage, your family, the people closest to you. Are you fully present, or are you standing there with one foot out the door waiting for a reason to leave.
Your money. Open the bank account. That number is not good and it is not bad. It is a scoreboard. It does not lie and it does not care about your feelings. It simply tells you the truth about where you stand.
Do this with no judgment and no shame. Just facts.
Because once you know exactly where you are, something powerful happens. You discover you are stronger than you thought in some areas, and you finally see clearly where you have real work to do. You cannot fix what you will not face, and you cannot build from a lie.
Now Set A Standard That Feels Impossible
Once you have the facts, you get to set the vision. And you should set it high enough to scare you a little.
Pick a standard about eighteen months out that feels almost impossible from where you sit today. Not fantasy. Not delusion. Just a level that makes you think, I honestly do not know how I would pull that off.
Then ask yourself the question that changes your entire life. Who do I need to become for that to be normal and natural?
Because the person you are today is not yet built for the mountain you want to climb. That is not an insult. That is the whole point. If you were already that person, you would already be there.
I have lived this. The version of me from years ago was not capable of the life I am living now. Not the businesses, not the marriage, not the leadership. I had to become the person those things required. You will have to do the same. Your job is not just to hustle harder. Your job is to grow into the leader your vision demands.
Start Thinking Like An Owner
Here is a shift that comes right along with facing the facts. You have to stop moving through the world as a consumer and start moving through it as a builder.
I catch myself doing it everywhere now. I walk into a business and my first thought is what is the revenue here, who owns this, how does this whole thing actually work. I cannot turn it off, and I would not want to.
That is the difference between the person serving the sandwich and the person who owns the sandwich shop and seven others. Same room. Completely different way of seeing it. One is consuming. One is building.
The moment you shift from consuming content and opportunities to creating and owning them, your whole trajectory changes. Start looking at your life and your work through the eyes of an owner, because ownership is a mindset long before it is a title.
You Are The Asset. You Are Also The Problem.
Let me give you the truth I had to accept, because it is the hardest and most freeing one.
You are your own greatest asset. And you are your own greatest liability.
It is not the economy. It is not your parents. It is not the president, the platform, or the people in your comments. The thing standing between you and the life you want is mostly you.
That is hard to hear. It is also the best news you will ever get. Because if you are the problem, then you are also the answer. You are the gateway to the gift. Nobody is coming to hand you your life. You get to build it.
So respect yourself enough to stop wasting your hours on things that make you dumber and lead you nowhere. Respect yourself enough to face what you have been avoiding. That respect will show up in what you do, not in what you say.
Make Your Move
So stop hiding from your own numbers. Face the facts across your body, your purpose, your relationships, and your money. Set a standard that scares you. Ask who you need to become. And start living like the owner of your own life instead of a consumer of everyone else's.
That is how you rise.
If you are ready to face the facts, set a real standard, and become who you are called to be alongside other leaders doing the same, that is exactly what we built Leaders Create Leaders to be. Apply, get in the room, and stop doing it alone.
Get honest. Then get to work.
